![]() What Should a Security Alarm System Include? A security alarm system decreases the chances of a burglary. Even if the alarm system does not stop a burglar from breaking in, he/she has a tendency to stay in the building for a shorter amount of time. This may decrease the number of items stolen and the extent of damage done. Most security systems rely on a combination of contacts and motion sensors placed at doors and windows. At Mezuri Systems, motion sensors are not the sole means of detection. Motion sensors only inform you that a person has entered the building. Ideally, the alarm is triggered before the person gains entry, therefore allowing the alarm to act as a deterrent rather than a notification. Mezuri recommends that all exterior potential points of entry are equipped with contacts that react when tampered with. Additional sensors commonly used in alarm systems are smoke detectors, glass break detectors, panic buttons, pressure mats that are placed under rugs and alarm screens for windows.
System Monitoring Mezuri offers the option to purchase a monitored or unmonitored system. If you decide to have an alarm system installed by Mezuri, you do not need to commit yourself to a monthly monitoring fee. If you prefer a monitored system, Mezuri can help you to arrange and manage it. In the case of a fire, emergency or burglary, our monitoring service will attempt to contact the business owner. If that is not successful, our central monitoring station will contact the police, fire department, or medics.
Monitored Systems typically work as follows: 1. The security system senses activity. 2. The system waits 30 to 45 seconds to give the business owner a chance to deactivate the system to prevent false alarms. 3. If the alarm is not deactivated, the security system sends a message to the monitoring company over telephone lines, wireless signal or web. 4. The monitoring company receives the message and verifies the alarm, usually by placing a phone call to the business. If they do not receive the proper password or an answer, they call the police. 5. Emergency services respond.
Unmonitored systems typically have on-site alarms and/or flashing lights. It relies on neighbors to call the police.
A Few Things to Know About Security Alarm Systems from Mezuri Most security system alarms sound inside the office and are then transferred to remote locations through the telephone lines. Phone lines are typically exposed on the outside a building and can be cut or damaged by a savvy burglar. If the telephone line is cut, the security alarm system cannot notify our central monitoring station of the break-in. In order to avoid this scenario, Mezuri installs wireless transmitters that operate within a cellular network. Severing a phone line will not stop the alarm from functioning properly.
The following is a short synopsis of what to expect when ordering an alarm system from Mezuri Systems:
